In addition, we continue to support local both local and international humanitarian causes.

Internationally, in this current year, we have supported Aegis Trust, Rwanda and are close to completing a significant project with a HVP school in Nepal.

At local level, using in great part the funds so generously donated by local people to our Xmas float runs, we have supported so far this year a number of worthy causes including:

  • St Mary's Church Hall, Draycott for building improvements to enhance the hall as a local community facility

  • Borrowbrook Home Link

  • Ockbrook & Borrowash Luncheon Club

  • Ashbrook & Draycott schools in several areas

  • Queens Hall Women's Hostel

  • Treetops Hospice , a follow up donation to our 2007-8 pledge in the Ripple Appeal.

  • East Midlands Ambulance Service in support of Church Wilne First Responders

  • Friends of St Chads, an ongoing membership we are pleased to maintain.

  • Draycott United U14 Football for a trip to play in Uganda.

  • Ilkeston Hospital Appeal

Rotary Foundation Gains Highest Award for Charity Fiscal Control

Rotary Foundation Charity is administered world-wide from our US headquarters in Evanston and was recently assessed by the organisation Charity Navigator as warranting its highest award for the way in which it manages the fund. Since less than a quarter of charities assessed by Charity Navigator attain this standard Rotary International is justifiably proud of its achievements.

The philosophy and practices employed by Rotary Foundation are also used at  local level in all local charitable fund-raising efforts, meaning that anyone contributing to our charitable fund-raising efforts are assured the money will be administered in a way worthy of their trust.
