Charity Horse Ride 2010

Be there on 12th September 2010 if you want an opportunity to ride through the countryside. More details are available on the Riding Diary Website but you can access the entry form for this year's event by CLICKING HERE.

The map for this year's event can be accessed HERE. It is unlikely that the course will change between now and the ride however the course is crop dependant.

We are really grateful to our main sponsors for their support. Please feel free to visit their websites by clicking on the respective logo below.

Highlights of the 2009 Charity Horse Ride

Here are a small sample of photos which tell the story of an extremely successful charity horse ride event. The full selection of photos taken on the day could not be posted here (for space reasons) but are available on a photo sharing website. Please follow the instructions at the foot of this page if you wish to access them.

The event was attended by a record 212 riders who thoroughly enjoyed the 12 mile course along bridleways, roads and farmland through Locko Park, Dale Abbey, Spondon and Ockbrook. All agreed that it was a superbly organised event.

All smiles at the start.

There were both larger and smaller groups of riders taking part.

There's no way he is getting me to say Cheese.

The ability to ride across farmland was thanks to the help and support of many local landowners.

On the farmland we were also able to have jumps, for those riders who were feeling a little more adventurous.

Even the little ones were able to get in on the act. Although we suspect she was only able to walk along a small part of the course with her helper, President Graham still felt she deserved a rosette.

If I had long legs like you I might have gone a bit further.

Those riders who completed the course received a rosette and then it was on to the food and drink tent for some well earned sustenance.

Once again our thanks must go to all the local farmers and landowners for their generosity in allowing us access for the ride. Our special thanks go to the South Derbyshire Saddle Club who allow us to use their showground for the start, finish and for all of the organisation functions. We are most grateful for everyone's generosity in helping us to raise charity funds in this way.

The Photo Sharing website allows you to upload 100Mb of photos per month. As there were close to 300Mb of photos taken on the day the first batch of these have been uploaded this month (Oct-09) and the balance will be uploaded in Nov-09 and Dec-09. Please refer back to this page in future months and follow this link
